Notice at Collection and Your Privacy Choices
This notice is for residents of California and of other U.S. states with comparable privacy laws. It summarizes what Paladin Labs LLC collects through HabitatOS, why, and what choices you have. Our full Privacy Policy is at habitatos.io/privacy.
1. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Personal Information
HabitatOS does not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, and we do not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is no opt-out for you to submit. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a matter of course, and if this ever changes we will update this notice and provide the required opt-out mechanism before starting.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. HabitatOS is not intended for children under 13.
2. Categories We Collect
- Identifiers. Account ID, device ID, email address, display name, IP address associated with sessions, and linked Apple or Google sign-in identifiers. Collected to create, authenticate, secure, and recover your account.
- Customer records. Display name and email address where you provide them. Collected to operate your account and contact you about the Service.
- Commercial information. Subscription tier, entitlement status, and purchase history. Collected to determine access to paid features. We do not receive full payment card numbers.
- Internet and network activity. App version, session timestamps, timezone, platform information, and diagnostic and crash data. Collected to operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
- Visual information. Photos you upload of your animals and, if you set one, your profile image. Collected to store and display them in your records.
- Your own content. Reptile profiles, husbandry and care records, notes, reminders, breeding records, enclosure data, sensor mappings, and passport records. Collected to provide the Service to you.
- Sensor credentials and telemetry, if you connect a provider. Connection details for the provider you choose, plus temperature, humidity, and related readings. Collected only to retrieve your device data on your behalf.
We do not collect biometric information, precise geolocation, health or medical information as defined by those laws, or information about your race, religion, union membership, sexual orientation, or immigration status. Animal husbandry records are not human health information.
3. Why We Collect It
We use personal information to operate, secure, and improve HabitatOS; to authenticate and recover accounts; to sync your records across devices; to send reminders and transactional email you asked for; to determine paid-feature access; to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; to comply with legal obligations; and to enforce our Terms of Use. We do not use it for advertising.
4. How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information for as long as your account exists, and afterward only where a legal, security, audit, financial, or backup obligation requires it. Raw sensor telemetry is designed to be cleaned up after 14 days. Section 11 of our Privacy Policy describes retention in full.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to obtain it in a portable form, to limit certain uses, and to be free from retaliation for exercising any of these rights.
- To delete your account yourself, open the HabitatOS app, go to Settings, then Data & Privacy, and choose Delete Account. Deletion is permanent.
- To make any other request, email Support@habitatos.io from the address associated with your account.
- You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We may ask for proof of the agent's authority and verify your identity directly.
- If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line.
We respond within the time the law requires, generally 45 days for U.S. state privacy requests, with one permitted extension where reasonably necessary. Full detail is in our Data Deletion and Privacy Rights Policy at habitatos.io/legal/data-deletion.
